The demand for aluminium is growing. This can be achieved by building Greenfield smelters, upgrading existing smelters or modification. Whatever the choice, in every circumstances there will be a need for ventilation in order to guarantee a good indoor climate for the people who are working in the primary aluminium industry. Several parameters influence the final result:

  • Building related parameters, like dimensions, location, openings, the construction
  • Heat load
  • Air inlet possibilities
  • Weather conditions

The above parameters will be conducted in a calculation and tested. Colt is using the newest technologies, such as CFD.

Gravity ventilation: specific advantages
Gravity ventilation makes sure a healthy indoor climate will be the result and temperature control and a clean atmosphere on working level is the case. Special attention is given to avoid turbulence at working level. Furthermore the advantages of gravity ventilation will be the same as for all other natural ventilation systems:

  • uses virtually no energy
  • almost no maintenance
  • silent operation
  • low operation cost
  • long life span
  • not liable to breakdown
  • limited structural work necessary
