Paul O'Gorman Building,
Newcastle Upon Tyne

The £11m Paul O'Gorman Building at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne was completed in February 2004 and is now the base for the Northern Institute of Cancer Research, providing world-class facilities for cancer drug discovery and application.

It has been made possible by backing from the Science Research Investment Fund (SRIF) and funds raised by the charities Cancer Research UK and the Foundation for Children with Leukaemia. The construction of this landmark building means 120 staff can work together in the same location for the first time in state-of-the-art laboratories.

Designed by Faulkner Browns, and built by Sir Robert McAlpine, Colt UK supplied CEL400/60 solar fins, and 1UL/SH for minimising solar heat gain.
