COLT HOLLAND - Solar Shading System and Natural Daylight Entry

Alvalzorg Holding

This stunning building has been designed by Architects Kerste & Meijer as the new headquarters of the waste disposal firm NV Alvalzorg Holding.

It has been built on a landfill site to show that it is possible to use these locations in a positive manner. The building design has been directly adopted from the surroundings - green grass on one side and the North Sea Canal on the other - and sustainability played a very important part in the design.
The south facade has a double skin. Coltlite natural ventilators have been installed to take care of the ventilation between these two skins. A Solarfin solar shading system with thermohydraulic controls adjusts daylight entry. Colt also installed Solarfin on the glass roof of the central hall, and controllable louvre modules in sliding units on the north side of the building for sun shading.
