Colt Holland - CoolStream, natural vents and heating system
Snel BV, Huissen
Snel is a family business which offers a variety of print finishing services to a wide range of customers in Europe and beyond.
The work includes diecutting, folding and gluing, and special services such as gift packs, over a three-shift 24-hour operation.
In 2006, Colt introduced the prototype of a new product, the CoolStream, which uses evaporative cooling as a method to remove heat from buildings. This product has been further developed and now there are two sizes of unit.
Snel BV has now purchased 8 CoolStream units, in addition to 20 Colt natural vents and a new heating system, as part of a complete refurbishment.
The Colt systems have reduced heating costs, and are achieving even greater savings during the summer months, as well as providing an improved internal climate for the staff.
For illustration, the old cooling installation was four times smaller in capacity and consumed far more energy as it was based on refrigerant compressor technology. The initial investment in CoolStream evaporative cooling systems is not only lower than such systems, but it is also between four and seven times more cost effective to run. The combination of the evaporative supply of fresh air and the natural ventilators achieve spectacular results.
