Climatically balanced and fire protected working conditions
The RRK corrugated cardboard company is a part of Panther Packaging Group, one of the largest companies in the sector. RRK stresses the importance of climatically balanced and fire protected working conditions and made these points a requirement when it started a refurbishment programme.
Producing corrugated cardboard generates very high room temperatures. In order to efficiently ventilate the production area, Colt provided a combination of FCO and mechanical Whirlwind ventilators.
For the handling and warehouse area, Colt installed Cosmotron daylight systems that help save on use of artificial light.
For the production area, Colt provided Air Recirculation Units which create a cushioning effect against the naturally rising warm air, preventing it from accumulating in the roof space. It is a simple, but effective way of cutting heating costs.
The packaging and distribution area is mechanically heated by a Colt Tristar heating system with the heat exiting by means of a fabric duct. This allows for dust and draught-free heating and ventilation.
 
The connected production and office area with different usage and ceiling height caused fluctuant room temperatures and air draught. Colt was able to solve this problem while integrating old heating systems with installing new heating and cooling systems. Furthermore, Colt provided ventilation for the sanitary area.
The new Colt systems and old systems are linked together by an ICS 4-Link control system so that the complete system could be optimised.
