Grunewald GmbH produces high-tech machinery for the aeronautic industry, and Colt was approached to design a solution which would prevent solar heat gain and at the same time generate electricity. Additionally, the system was intended to include a smoke control and natural ventilation scheme.
 
Colt Shadoglass louvres were mounted onto a structural stainless steel supporting framework in front of the façade.
A CCS 2000 control system calculates the progression of the sun and sends signals to automatically alter the position of the louvres.
Automatically controlled glazed Coltlite ventilators were installed at high level into the glass façade for day-to-day ventilation whilst EuroCO ventilators were installed into the roof to provide smoke extract ventilation.
