Colt Belgium
Decospan, Menen
Decospan is an international company, with two plants in Belgium (Decospan) and one in France (Mecameubles). The company was founded in 1978 as a veneering company, and became a leader in this field in the European market. It is also one of the top European producers of veneered panels, supplying standard veneered panel produces on MDF, particle board, blockboard and plywood baseboards, and stocking more than 120 wood types. They also provide veneered panel products which are cut to size and finished for the furniture industry, panels for shop-fitting use, and also a veneered HDF made into a parquet flooring range, marketed under the name "Par-Ky".
In 1989 the company won the Belgian Oscar for Exports. In 1990 it won 'De Gouden Lasso', which is awarded to the most remarkable young company in the Flanders region. Decospan was also a finalist in 1999 in the famous 'Entrepreneur of the Year' contest.
The new plant in France (Mecameubles) recently started to fulfil the demand of cut to size panels, and Colt installed an total automatic fire ventilation system with an OPV control system. In Decospan in Belgium, Colt installed natural ventilation as air inlet and air outlet combined with two mechanical ventilation units, Tristar 3T. The total installation has six smoke zones divided over two separate buildings. The regulation of mechanical ventilation and fire ventilation is combined in one control system, G-OPV. This gives the customer the opportunity to use a standard DDC-control system, but approved and tested in combination with automatic fire ventilation so that in the case of emergency, the system still works properly.
