Multi- million Euro contract for Colt International BV, The Netherlands
In December 2010 Colt received an order for supplying and installing a complete glass roof including smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (SHEVs) for the new public transport terminal in The Hague (Den Haag OVT). The total value of this contract, awarded by Utrecht developer Strukton Construction, is 10 million Euros and it is the largest order in the history of the Group.
Transparent roof
Den Haag Centraal will now get a completely new station building, where all modes of public transport will converge, and travellers will find a wide choice of shops and cafes. Colt is supplying a huge glass roof covering a total area of approximately 11,000 m² for this building. This comprises 218 tulip shaped modules, each measuring 6.5m x 6.5m and 28 diamond shaped modules. Each module will comprise four Firelight flap ventilators.
The assembly is due to be completed in 2013, and will be carried out over a period of around 3 months and mostly at night, which will require exceptionally careful project planning.
Customisation
Colt has a strong track record in designing and installing all manner of customised glass roofs and façades and integrating smoke and heat exhaust ventilators neatly into them. For this project, we have gone a step further in providing glazed ventilators specially designed to suit the needs of the building.
Mr Kor Foekens, Commercial Director of Colt International BV says, "The strategy of the Colt Group has led to a strong growth in revenue and a global presence in recent years. Strukton Construction’s decision to award this project to Colt hinged on our specialist knowledge of these specific kinds of structures, extensive experience in projects of this scale and complexity, and our strong financial position."
