Britomart Railway Station, Auckland
The Britomart Railway Station is a new development, and is New Zealand's only underground railway station. The trains are diesel powered and give off fumes that can leave deposits on certain surfaces, and Colt louvres were chosen for the air intake towers because they could be made in stainless steel which discourages these deposits, and also satisfied the Architects' aesthetic requirements.
The louvres in the two air intakes are a mixture of 2UL/DH Universal Louvre, some with Colt Type R Acoustic Pods, and the doors are also made by Colt. Colt also provided 3UL/SH aluminium Universal Louvre around the entrance buildings, and also a Smokemaster smoke curtain below ground spanning the entire 22 x 8 x 8 metre subway.For more information about Colt products follow the links to the Colt UK website.
