COLT IRELAND - Ventilation System and Smoke Extract System for Hospital

Tullamore Hospital, County Offaly

The redevelopment of the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore involved the replacement of some buildings and the enlargement of the original hospital dating back to the early 1940's, as well as the alteration and refurbishment of the existing Chapel which is a protected structure.

A key objective of the design team, Architects Murray O'Laoire, was to maximise the use of natural light and ventilation by use of a series of internal courtyards, providing a cheerful and therapeutic environment for the delivery of health care services.

Colt has provided a day to day ventilation system in two areas, and smoke extract system in all three areas, by installing a number of Coltlite natural ventilators with insulated louvres providing inlet air, and Smoke Extract Fans with Seefire ventilator terminations above each fan.
