Colt manufacturing: quality, efficiency, flexibility
Colt applies the principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement in its factories to minimise lead times and waste, maximise efficiency in the production processes and ensure its consistently high quality standards.

Efficient and flexible
Our manufacturing processes focus on getting the right components in the right quantity where and when they are needed, to optimise workflow, minimise waste and maximise flexibility. We operate a just-in-time inventory strategy working closely with our suppliers, and kanban signalling systems for low value parts. Cellular manufacturing for subassembly of components enables us to be flexible and responsive, managing efficiently any scheduling, maintenance and process issues that arise.
Quality through continuous improvement
We constantly assess and improve all processes involved in making and delivering our products, from order processing and logistics to supplier order and quality management, and production. We encourage our employees to participate in our Kaizen activities and hold regular quality forums involving representatives from the manufacturing teams and departments who have a role to play in the continuous improvement process.
Close to the customer
Our manufacturing operations are spread around the world to be close to our customers. This enables us to respond faster to their requests and maximise the efficiency of our logistics, with a consequent reduction in the environmental impact of our distribution activities. That is why Colt products are manufactured in in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, New Zealand, China, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
